We're In This Together!

Covid-19 is affecting daily lives all over the world.

People are unwell; there is pressure on health systems and hospitality related institutions, some businesses are really suffering and there is a lot of uncertainty about the near future.

In the Enkev Group it’s not different: some colleagues fell ill & happily we can say that they recovered or that they are on the mend. Business wise we encountered a variety of issues: some customers postponed and even cancelled orders and in some Enkev locations business is still slow. At other locations where the lockdowns are being lifted; there we see business slowly coming back.

At Enkev we have always managed our companies carefully, with a natural long-term view. When managing your company as a guardian, a crisis like this does not lead to immediate existence related issues.

In many senses the Enkev Group shares the ‘Kaitiaki’ guardianship culture of our wool growing partners at Wools of New Zealand: it’s not about today, it’s all about next generations.

Despite the good news that Covid-19 has been – almost - chased off the New Zealand islands, our growing partners are sitting on stocks of wool. We feel very much connected and committed to our dear partners in New Zealand.

At Enkev we 100% believe in the Farm Direct fair chain that we have set up between the Wools of New Zealand wool growers and our customers. Our customers are looking for unique value adding materials that function well and have a transparent, traceable provenance. Tokowool was created because customers wanted a special 100% natural lofty wool. Our growers reaction was to crossbreed the curliest coated sheep they could find. This is a good example of what we can do and of what we will be promoting in the future.

In these uncertain times The Enkev Group would like to clearly state that we stand by our partners in New Zealand and we will honour the commitments that stem from the pre-corona era. We look forward to promoting the Wools of New Zealand materials. Things seem difficult now but the future looks bright.
